Notes

Note 1

Scott Thomas Alter, of Basalt, Colo., passed Sunday, April 1, 2012, at home.

Born June 24, 1970 in Denver, Colo., Scott graduated from the Creighton University School of Dentistry in 1992 and was drawn to the Roaring Fork Valley, where he spent many childhood vacations and weekends. After working in Omaha for a short while, he established his practice on Main Street in Aspen in 1998 and soon thereafter met the love of his life, Jennifer, in his dental chair.

Jennifer's toothache led to 11 years of a marriage filled with love, sharing, laughter and passion. Scott loved life, but more than anything he loved his family. He was best friends with his wife and no two people were ever meant for each other more than Scott and Jennifer. Anyone who ever spent time with them will always remember the overwhelming love they had for each other. He loved Samantha, his stepdaughter, like she was his own and was a devoted father to his son, Jack.

Scott enjoyed entertaining family and friends at their home and at his campsite at Ruedi Reservoir. He was most comfortable around the grill, where his broad smile and contagious happiness always drew a crowd. He was an essential part of the Aspen community and will be sorely missed.

Scott is survived by his wife, Jennifer; his children, Samantha and Jack; and family

Howe; Katie, Eric, Keegan, Baylor and Brooke Bradac; Barbara Stermer; Joelle, Steven and Austin Fotion; Tyler, Lindsey and Lauren Anderson; grandmother O'Meara; uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces; and Alexis Waxman and Yuri Waxman.
