<p>PORTLAND -- Gerald S. Robinov, 79, of Wellington, Fla. passed away surrounded by his family at Maine Medical Center in Portland on August 8, 2011.
<p>He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Dec. 4, 1931 the youngest child of Frank and Ida Robinov. He attended Ossining HS in Ossining, N.Y. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and advertising at Champlain College. He served a tour of duty in the military with the US Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked for David Piel Advertising in New York City and in 1957 met and married Jacqueline Bookbinder. They moved to Portland in 1958 where he co-founded Appplicators Sales and Service with his brother-in-law David Koocher. J Jerry's passion in life was his family, his beloved wife of 54 years, his four children and his eight grandchildren, countless nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends who all referred to him affectionately as Uncle Jerry. His creative spirit and passion for life led him from a simple hobby of photography to an incredible career of books, calendars, and exhibitions all bringing awareness to issues ranging from Cancer to mental illness.
<p>His generosity, playfulness, boundless love, and incredible presence will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
<p>He is survived by his sister Ethel Robinov Koocher, his beloved wife, Jacqueline; son Jeff and wife Nicole, sons Richard and Gary, daughter Mara Robinov-Moorhead and husband Warren; grandchildren Breya, Alec, Mesa, Reece, India, and Devan Robinov and Zane and Eliza Moorhead.
<p>Services will be held at Etz Chaim Synagogue, 267 Congress St. Portland on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 3 p.m. Interment will follow at Temple Beth El Memorial Park. Following interment, the family welcomes friends and family to their home at 35 Buttonwood Lane, Portland. A memorial period will be observed Wednesday and Thursday at the family home form 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. with services being conducted at 5 p.m. Friday, visiting will be from 2- 4:30 p.m. Arrangements by The Jewish Funeral Home.
